WOMEN'S HEALTH SERVICES
GYN Clinic

  • Held on Tuesday and Friday mornings, GYN Clinic visits are by appointment. Dr. Diane Paukett is the physician on staff for the Friday service and Nancy Wolf, Family Nurse Practitioner, is the provider for the Tuesday appointments.

  • NOTE: GYN and women's health services are available throughout the week, and students with acute problems can expect to receive evaluation and treatment as needed.

  • Students should plan to make a nurse visit first so that important history and other information can be provided. The appointment will then be made with a physician or nurse practitioner according to availability and your schedule. If you are experiencing acute pain or other symptoms, the nurse may have a provider see you immediately. This would be determined at the time of the visit and based on the nursing assessment.

  • Services available include:
  • emergency contraception and pregnancy testing (no app't needed)
  • routine Pap Smears
  • annual pelvic exams
  • testing for sexually transmitted diseases
  • birth control including oral contraceptives, diaphragm measurement, DepoProvera injections
  • diagnosis and treatment of urinary tract infections
  • diagnosis and treatment of pelvic inflammatory disease
  •

Women beginning oral contraceptives are provided with the first 2-3 months of pills, depending on supply. After a three month checkup, if all is going well, the student will be given a prescription for the birth control pill to be filled at a local pharmacy.

Diaphragm measurements can be made and a prescription written to be filled at a local pharmacy.

Depo-Provera injections may be administered at the Health Service for a $40.00 fee. For a first-time user, the initial injection is free. A visit with one of the nurses will initiate this process. An examination or documentation of previous examination will also be necessary prior to injection. Students should not expect injection on the first nurse visit. Office visits are free as is medication ordered and prescribed at Health Services. There is a fee for laboratory tests.
